The first variation of the product, the one that was made between 20 had a codename DOL 001 and it used 46w charger and AV cables alongside progressive scan to connect to a TV. While other consoles were able to use CDs and DVDs to play other media such as movies, Nintendo GameCube was designed for gaming only. Nintendo GameCube is the first console made by this company to use mini DVD discs as media storage. The unit has a cub-alike design and comes in purple color. The main rivals of the console were Sony PlayStation 2, Xbox and Dreamcast made by Sega. It was released in the United States and Japan in 2001 and the following year in Europe and Australia.
The console was designed completely to buy Nintendo and also referred to as DOL.
